Krościenko-Smilnytsya border crossing - Terlo - Rosokhy - Voloshynovo - Lavriv - Tysovytsya - Lopushanka-Khomyna - Yasenytsya-Zamkova - Rozluch/Yavora

Distance: approx. 65 km / 40 mi (about half of it is on unpaved or very poorly paved roads with some forest roads). Paved detour (although the quality of pavement is still questionable) is shown in purple on the map.

Elevation: n/a at this time

Gradient: n/a at this time

This route can be ridden either on a mountain bike or on a road bicycle. In the latter case, it is probably a good idea to take the paved detour shown in purple on the map.

See Border crossing for important information.

Additional resources:

The main attractions en route (marked with "push pins" on the map) are (listed north to sounth):

  • Bell tower (mid-18th c.) of the Church of Archangel Michael in the village of Yasenytsya-Zamkova (see this photo on Panoramio); the church itself is not as old (see this photo of both on Panoramio);
  • St. Fransis Church built by German settlers (early 20th c.) in the village of Rozluch; although relatively new, it is in very bad shape; for more information on Rozluch, see this Wikipedia article (in Ukrainian) with three images of the church.
  • Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (late 19th c.) in the village of Rozluch; see this article about Rozluch (in Ukrainian) with quite a few good photos of both this church and the church of St. Fransis.
